Beaver Destruction
#NO: 96
Time Playing: EST 2009... i think.
Time In Rep Sqd: ahhh 2 and a bit years.. maybe...
Fav. Derby Position: Inside line commander. I like wearing the striped panty too :)
Fav. Derby Exp.: Playing against the Adeladies at the Newcastle Entertainment centre. One word: Amazeballs! The team, the audience, our opponents... it all added to an unforgettable night.
What Does It Mean To You, To Be In The NRDL Rep. Sqaud? Everything! Everyday i share the track with them is an honour. . .
This is my Team. There are many like it, but this one is mine.
My Dames are my best friends. They are my life. I must care for them as i do my own life.
My Dames and myself know that what counts in Derby is not the single blocks we make or the falls we face, nor the points we score. We know that it is in teamwork we trust. We will hit, sometimes fall but always recover together...
My Dames are awesome, as I, because we are Newcastle. Thus, I will learn them as sisters. I will learn their weaknesses, their strengths and all parts that make them as a whole. I will ever persist to guard them against the ravages of skaters that mean to split and part us as I will ever guard my legs, my arms, my eyes and my heart against damage. We will become part of each other. We will...
Before the Derby gods, I swear this creed. My Dames and myself are the defenders of Newcastle. We are the masters of our enemy. We are the saviours of my life.
So be it, until victory is ours.

Fav. Derby Position: blocker. Depends on my level of adrenalin; the back when I'm feeling feisty and focused, the front when I'm strategy focused.
Fav. Derby Exp.: most recently, playing against auckland's pirate city in nz. But a real derby-life changer was the booty camp in west sydney early 2011-with vaderella, kitty decapitate and rocky. Something just seemed to click with their help.
What Does It Mean To You, To Be In The NRDL Rep. Sqaud? I'm so incredibly proud to play alongside people I revere not only as sportspeople but as friends. These girls show me, and now I see in myself, the true scope of female empowerment; sharing the joy of personal triumphs, the supportive and nurturing teamwork, and the warmth and acceptance of true friends. It's given me more than I could have hoped for, and I only hope I can pass some of that on.

Fav. Derby Position: Intimidator - mostly at the back offensive or defensive.

Time In Rep Sqd: first Dames bout November 2009
Fav. Derby Position: Front of pack
Fav. Derby Exp.: probably just the discovery that I get along with women so much better when I can hit them
What Does It Mean To You, To Be In The NRDL Rep. Sqaud? The Dames, and the league as a whole, have truly enriched my life. These people and this sport continue to inspire me, motivate me, amuse me and enthuse me more than anyone or anything else ever has.

Susy Pow

Name: Susy Pow
Number: TOP5
Time Playing: Since October, 2009
Time In Rep Sqd: Since March, 2010
Fav. Derby Position: Jammer or power blocker
Fav. Derby Experience: Skating for Australia at the roller derby world cup
Who or what inspires you on and off the track: My favourite skaters are those who are effective on the track and who never get penalties. I also like risk takers
How did you get into derby: After a quick rules intro in a vegan restaurant in Canberra late 2007 with a friend who played for CRDL, I was later convinced to play by my Sydney friend Bettie Brimstone.
What is your worst or most interesting derby-related injury: I’m always sporting some kind of injury. One week I’ll have stacked it doing silly stuff in the street, next week I’ll have some rink rash or a bruised eye
What do my family think: My mum aka “Susy Pow’s Mum” is a massive fan and comes to most games
How do you get psyched for a game: I try to harness all my nervous energy and bring it to the track. As coach of the Harbour Hellcats and skater for the Dockyard Dames, I use my energy to babble exciting words to my team.
Do you have a derby persona to go with your name: What you see is what you get. That’s why I don’t need a derby name to play up.
